It seems that 2012 has been dominated by cheerful tunes, no matter if the lyrics are happy or sad. “The City” by Oceanics is no exception. With the “LaLaLas” and the excitable guitar playing, it’s difficult to keep the smile off of your face. This track is excellent and very well made; not to mention, who can resist that slight Aussie twang?
Pair that accent (yes, yes I do like Aussie accents, couldn’t you tell?) with the overall catchiness of the song and there’s an irresistible allure that pulls you in and makes you want to listen to Oceanics for hours on end.
The track acts as a preview of what’s to come from this amazing band, and if this is just a hint, I can’t wait to hear the rest! The only problem with this song is that it’s over before you get the full time to finish bobbing along to it and singing, “I’m in the CITYYYYY!” at the top of your lungs. The good news is, you can press the replay button infinitely…and you will, I guarantee.
