TOUR DIARY #2: Not Tonight Josephine

Not Tonight JosephineOkay, so after we last left you while we were cruising the French Quarter, Danny (vocals) tried to sleep in a guitar case, we found out Christian (drums) can’t rap, and that maybe, just maybe, there’s a reason two visits to New Orleans should be kept few and far between. Overall though, we weren’t in too bad of shape.

It’s a relatively quick drive to our next stop in West Louisiana, a small town outside of Shreveport called Bossier City where we had stopped before. The venue there is also where Evan (bass), on a previous tour, had nearly destroyed the entire lighting truss with an over excited bass spin, so of course the running joke of the night was something to the tune of “Hey, don’t go breakin’ any more of those fancy lights” or something equally as creative. The lights would prove to stay safe however, since the addition of a disco ball hanging even lower than the lights was a much more appealing target anyway.

TOUR DIARY: Not Tonight Josephine

Not Tonight Josephine Dear Diary….

No, that was a joke. Okay, it was a bad one. Anyways, it seems like the RollerCoastTour just wrapped up maybe last night (really we’ve been home for two weeks now, but I’m pretty certain that we all slept for the first 6 days of that break).

We’re heading back into the southeast again, mainly because as 5 guys from Florida, none of us have a single clue or desire to drive in the snow. After working out the kinks of touring with each other in March, we’ve got the day to day routine locked in.

The first three stops on this tour went off like clockwork, our first stop in Pensacola, as first shows tend to, was sketchy. Admittedly we don’t exactly travel light, between our van and trailer, backline, and mission control (our in-ear-monitor mixer setup). It’s not uncommon to get to some smaller venues and scare the stage manager half to death. We still do our thing, even if the stage did have a hole directly behind James’ (our guitarist’s) spot on stage.

Riot Fest Announces More Dates

Riot Fest has announced that they will be in Toronto on September 6 and 7, Denver on September 19-21, in addition to the September 12-14 Chicago stop. This year will be the fest’s ten year anniversary. This year’s line up has yet to be announced but past years included Rise Against, Blink 182 and Violent Femmes.

Who would you want to see? Personally, I’m dying to see Rise Against on stage since they’ll have a new album coming out later this year. You can buy concert tickets here once sale dates are announced. Check out the message straight from the Riot Fest after the jump.

Top 10 Metal Christmas Songs

Top 10 Metal Christmas SongsChristmas is never the first thing you think about when you think of bands like Motörhead or Slipknot. In fact, most people would probably associate Krampus, the Yuletide demon-beast of German folklore, with a lot of metal bands before they even got around to Santa Claus. However, every now and then the metal world surprises us with one or two Christmas songs (or even the occasional album); and it’s an awesome bundle of guitar riffs, drum licks, and bass “dirnts” all wrapped up in a nice green and red bow.  So here are my top ten metal songs to listen to this Christmas.
