She may be new to the spotlight, but Lorde isn’t making a subtle entrance into the industry. She’s only just released her debut album, Pure Heroine, but her song Royals has already made her the youngest artist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in over 20 years. She’s also the first ever New Zealand solo artist to have a number one hit in the US. Additionally, she already has the honor of being nominated for four Grammy awards, and it was just announced Monday that she’d be performing at the ceremony as well.
At only 17 years old, it’s clear that Lorde will be sticking around the music industry for a long time. She has a unique electropop voice and a confidence that’s obvious through her stage presence. She has strong opinions and an intelligent mind well beyond her years. She might just be the powerful woman presence Hollywood needs right now.
